Mr. MacRae has been a faculty member with College of the North Atlantic Qatar (CNA-Q), School of Health Sciences for the last 9 years. While at CNA-Q he has held several positions including clinical and didactic faculty, and clinical coordinator.
He has been actively engaged in healthcare and healthcare education for over 25 years. His experience spans clinical practice in critical care within tertiary academic centers in Canada, flight medicine, clinical research and international healthcare education which has brought him to the Caribbean, China and Qatar.
Trained as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in Canada he furthered his studies in Neonatology at Thompson River University. He holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research from the University of Liverpool, UK.
He is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists, a member of Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) and an editorial board member of Avicenna Journal, a Bloomsbury/Qatar Foundation publication. His research interests are biomarkers in critical illness, research ethics, pediatric public & preventative health, and healthcare workforce development and sustainability. He has published in several peer reviewed journals.
Mr. MacRae has served as a past member of the Qatar Academic Health System Clinical Subcommittee, member of the Licensing and Credentialing Committee at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), and as Chair of the Institutional Review Board at CNA-Q.
