Ms. Maha Elnashar serves as the Director, Center for Cultural Competence in Health-Care, Institute for Population Health, Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar. Ms. Elnashar completed her undergraduate degree and post-graduate degree in translation and interpretation from Cairo University and American University of Cairo. She is a licensed medical interpreter’s trainer and cultural competence trainer from Cross Cultural Health Care program in Seattle, USA and a member of U.S. National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare. She has several years’ experience in medical interpretation, translation (English/ French/Arabic) and cultural competence education in Canada, Qatar and Egypt. Ms. Elnashar has a special interest in research especially on the influence of culture and language on healthcare. She is the author of several scholarly articles in prestigious peer-reviewed journals.
