Dr. Rachid Bendriss

Dr. Rachid Bendriss joined Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2010 as Lecturer of English as a Second Language in premedical education and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. Dr. Bendriss graduated from the University of Central Florida (UCF) with an MA in TESOL and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.  In 2013, Dr. Bendriss was appointed as Assistant Dean for Student Recruitment, Outreach, and Foundation programs. In this role, he provides a dynamic and forward-looking leadership to attract local and regional student talent to the pursuit of a career in medicine through innovative pathway programs and engaged relationship-building. To strengthen long-term partnerships with the high school community in Qatar, Dr. Bendriss established creative initiatives focused on effective college readiness for prospective students, yielding a significant number of highly motivated applicants from Qatar and the GCC.

Prior to joining WCM-Q, Dr. Bendriss was a faculty member at Valencia College and UCF . In addition to teaching, Dr. Bendriss assumed several administrative leadership roles. At UCF, he served as Assistant Director of the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Studies, where he managed an Intensive English Program of 380 international students. He was also Assistant Director of the International Services Center, leading institutional global initiatives to internationalize the campus. As a Faculty Development Specialist at UCF’s Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, Dr. Bendriss designed programs to internationalize curricula and facilitated training on learning theories, course design, curriculum, assessment, classroom management, and pedagogy for teaching assistants and new faculty.
At WCM-Q, Dr. Bendriss has served as chair and member of numerous committees, task forces, and advisory boards focused on curriculum reform, admissions, student research experience, educational technology, academic readiness, and student advising. Dr. Bendriss has lectured and written extensively on the internationalization of higher education, recruitment and enrollment management, academic English development, information fluency, college readiness, and educational technology.

Dr. Rachid Bendriss is an international education expert who received the prestigious U.S. Department of State Fulbright Award of International Education, the distinguished Florida Association of International Education Annual Award, and WCM-Q’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
