Dr. Javaid Sheikh

Dean Javaid Sheikh is an internationally renowned medical executive and creative thought leader in global academic medicine. During his tenure as Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) since 2010, Professor Sheikh has pioneered innovative educational and research programs enabling WCM-Q to become widely acknowledged as a leading institution preparing “Global Physicians” for the 21st century.

Dean Sheikh serves on a number of national health policy committees including the Qatar Council on Health Practitioners Board. Professor Sheikh also co-edits Innovations in Global Health Professions Education journal, providing an international platform for profiling conceptual and technological innovations in global health professionseducation.

Prior to joining WCM-Q in 2007, Dean Sheikh built a distinguished career at the prestigious Stanford University School of Medicine in California as a Professor ofPsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Associate Dean and Chairman of the Board of the Palo Alto Institute for Research and Education.
