Mr. Kelby Bottoman was born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa, where he gained his academic qualifications and experience. With more than 11 years of experience as a critical care paramedic in South Africa, he has dedicated his career to providing high-level care to critically ill patients during their transport to healthcare facilities. Progressing to a senior paramedic role, He oversaw the daily routines of advanced life support paramedics, leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience of critical care to enhance healthcare delivery in the community.

Driven by a passion for education and skill-sharing, he pursued further studies, obtaining a Baccalaureus Technologiae in emergency care and a master’s degree in public health. In 2017, he joined the College of Emergency Care as a lecturer and played a pivotal role in graduating more than 100 intermediate life support professionals. His experience in student moderation and assessment has been instrumental in his subsequent roles as an honorary lecturer and adjunct faculty for the paramedicine program at the University of Mandela in South Africa and the Higher College of Technology in the UAE.

Mr. Bottoman subsequently joined the London Ambulance Service in the UK. There, he provided pre-hospital care and treatment to critical patients, performing assessments and complex decision-making to determine the most appropriate care settings for patients based on their history and condition. This is where he was exposed to international community paramedicine.

Currently, he is a lecturer at the University of Doha for Science and Technology, a position he has held since August 2023. In this role he is involved in developing, teaching, training, and evaluating the theoretical and practical knowledge of emergency care students.
