Training in Music-Based Therapeutic Interventions: From Fundamentals to Multidisciplinary Implementation

This activity provides evidence-based training in the fundamentals and skills required for the multidisciplinary implementation of music-based interventions, with a special focus on the challenges present in the Middle East. Participants will not only learn about the clinical applications of music-based interventions, but also to differentiate between music medicine, music therapy, and other music-based interventions that require multidisciplinary teams. Participants will learn about the different goals of the music educator and the music therapist, and will learn to determine possible solutions to overcome the challenges presented by a given case. Finally, participants will gain exposure to music therapy techniques, from neurologic music therapies to virtual music therapy, and will learn to recognize the potential benefits of each technique in relation to clinical cases.
