Dr. Khalil Ullah Shibli is currently working as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive care and Perioperative Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation Qatar since October 2016. In his administrative role, he also serves as Associate Section Head of the department of Anesthesiology at Al Wakra Hospital HMC. Dr Khalil Shibli is currently the Program Director of Pain Medicine Fellowship Program at HMC since March 2017. Being a qualified medical educator and Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE), he is serving as the Site Director for ACGME Anesthesiology Residency Program at Al Wakra Hospital. He is a member of Core Anesthesia Faculty and the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) of ACGME anesthesiology residency program. He is also a member of Anesthesia departmental scientific and education research committee. In his leadership role, Dr Shibli has served as the Corporate Director for Chronic Pain Services (Feb 2017 – Dec 2018) with Hamad Medical Corporation Qatar. He has designed and proposed various innovative and management projects including recently formulated nurses pain curriculum for practical training at HMC.

Before his arrival at HMC Qatar in 2016, Dr Khalil Shibli served as a Senior Consultant Anesthesiology & Pain Management at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) Singapore (14 March 2011 - October 2016). In his academic and teaching role, he was appointed Clinical Senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSOM), National University Singapore (2012 - 2016). At the same time, he was selected as an examiner for MMed Anaesthesiology national examinations. Dr Khalil Shibli is a keen educator and was the founding Chairman of Committee of Alexandra Health for Research in Education (CARE) in 2013 at KTPH and remained in position until 2016. Dr Shibli was a formal nurse’s tutor on Airway and advanced Pain management programs at KTPH Singapore. He was one of the first mentors for medical students for LPE (Longitudinal Patient Experience Program) at YLLSOM NUS. He was the Chairman of Performing Arts Group (PAG) at KTPH Singapore for assimilating art and culture in reinvigorating work environment and improve output.

Dr Khalil Shibli is a medical graduate of 1984 from internationally renowned Dow Medical College Karachi Pakistan. He subsequently received higher education and training in the United Kingdom (DA, FRCA, CCST, Diploma in Pain Management) and Maastricht, Netherlands (MHPE). He received anesthesia specialty training in North of England and rotated in Halifax, York and Hull. He also served as a Consultant in York & Halifax. His educational expertise includes supervising education research, organising workshops for medical education research, faculty development, problem-based learning, feedback and assessments and instruction and curriculum designing to promote theory-based learning and teaching practices. Dr Shibli is a member of recently formulated committee for constructing MCQs, for College of Medicine, Qatar University (2019). He supervises and mentors ‘Master in Pain management’ thesis for the students. He is a member of several editorial and advisory educational boards and a reviewer of medical journals like JPMA (2003 to date). He has published benchmark paper in year 2000 widely cited in Obstetric anaesthesia practice for changing trends in anaesthesia techniques for caesarean deliveries in UK 1997 (IOJA Shibli and Russell 2000). He holds life memberships of several international anaesthesia and pain bodies of educational and scientific domain.

Internationally he is a Visiting faculty for Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Karachi Pakistan and regularly gets invited as a speaker on scientific, educational and social subjects around the world including USA, UK, Australia, Singapore, Philippines and Pakistan.
