Thomas Caruso, MD, PhD
Dr. Thomas Caruso is a Clinical Professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital
Stanford. He is the Director of the Stanford Chariot Program, which aims to improve medical education
and patient care by utilizing immersive technologies, including mixed spatial and virtual reality.
Dr. Caruso has published and presented internationally on the utilization of mixed reality for medical
simulation. Software developed by the Chariot Program can be found in hundreds of hospitals and their
customized immersive technology solutions are widely used by researchers in the field.
He is also founder and board chair of Invincikids, a global non-profit that licenses immersive technologies to
pediatric patients and medical educators around the world.
