Dr. Ali Hallal is an Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery and is currently the director of the surgery clerkship at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).

Dr. Hallal completed his general surgery residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) in Lebanon, followed by a trauma and surgical intensive fellowship at the Ryder Trauma Center, the University of Miami, in 2003.

Dr. Hallal embarked on a journey in some of the world's most challenging medical environments related to trauma surgery. His practice has been geographically diverse, including significant periods in South Africa, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. His clinical expertise is in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Intensive Care, and Upper Gastrointestinal Oncology Surgery.

Serving as the program director for the surgery residency program and the program director for the trauma and intensive care fellowship that he established at the AUBMC, Dr. Hallal helped shape the training and development of surgeons in Lebanon over the last decade. He was involved at the national and regional levels in establishing trauma and critical services, developing the ECMO program, directing ATLS courses, and teaching general surgery and acute care review courses in the MENA region and Europe. 

His primary research interest is surgical education and trauma surgery.
