WCMC-Q Graduates its Second Class of Doctors
Graduates enter a new phase of their careers
On May 6, WCMC-Q graduated its second class of physicians and awarded the Cornell MD degree to 17 students. The graduates, 13 women and four men, represent 10 different nationalities. These include Qatar, Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Tunisia and the United States. They will move on to the next stage of their medical and scientific careers, going to residency training or research programs in the United States and Qatar.

WCMC-Q Professor Chosen to Speak at World Economic Forum on the Middle East
The forum addressed privatizing science
Lotfi Chouchane, PhD, DSc, professor of genetic medicine, immunology and microbiology at WCMC-Q, was one of 20 scientists from around the world invited to Jordan for the World Economic Forum on the Middle East for a discussion among members of the scientific community and decision makers. Their aim was to develop a forward-looking agenda for science, and Dr. Chouchane contributed as a panelist on a discussion on privatizing science in the Middle East. 200 students from six institutions convene
Through warm, May breezes and soft blue and red lighting, about 2400 guests filed into Education City’s open-air ceremonial court. Gigantic, ocean-blue projection screens and Tchaikovsky’s Fantasy Overture, played expertly by the Doha philharmonic, lent the venue an air of wonder. Autumn Watts presents a night of mixed media
It was an event that left the audience commenting about their dream-like states of mind. For an hour, words danced amidst sketches, repeating video and animation. Providing this refreshing break from the structured science of medical school, Autumn Watts presented collaborative multimedia works in her lecture entitled “Is It Dark Where You’re Sitting?,” part of the April Literary Lecture Series at WCMC-Q.
