Director of Government and Public Affairs

  Manages and leads all functions of WCMC-Q’s global, public and corporate communications. Develops and implements comprehensive marketing and PR strategies and campaigns, events management, as well as the production of below and above the line advertising. Establishes and utilizes public relations strategies in order to communicate, promote and reinforce WCMC-Q’s triple mission in education, research and clinical care and to create and maintain a positive image of WCMC-Q. Creates, leads and implements community based, high visibility projects. Plans and develops comprehensive public relations programs in close cooperation with WCMC-Q departments, Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, Cornell University, Qatar Foundation and partner institutions in Qatar.

Achieves organizational goals and objectives by administering the communications and public relations initiatives as determined by the larger organizational strategic planning process.

Ahmed Eissa  

Ahmed Eissa
Marketing Communication Manager

  Assists the Director of Government and Public Affairs in providing broad strategic and specific tactical marketing communications support and services for WCMC-Q across individual markets in the Middle East, as well as other key locations. Develops and implements comprehensive marketing and PR strategies and campaigns. Works with campus organizations and departments to produce and publish advertising material to help increase penetration of WCMC-Q products and services into target markets ensuring that the marketing efforts support the college's overall strategy and goals.

Public Affairs Specialist

  Assists the Marketing Communication Manager in developing and delivering public relations strategies to communicate and reinforce WCMC-Q’s triple mission in education, research and clinical care, and to create and maintain a positive image of WCMC-Q. Responsible for the delivery of various events, visits, tours and other activities that promote WCMC-Q to local, regional, and international audiences.

Under the direction of the Marketing Communications Manager, provides strategic support across digital, technological and web platforms to ensure effective communication. Assists in research and development of solutions to enhance corporate visibility. Oversees WCMC-Q presence in social media.

Under the supervision of the Marketing Communications Manager, Events Specialist is responsible for the planning, logistics, coordination and execution of various events, related to WCMC-Q public affairs, including conferences, career fairs and academic events. Also coordinates in depth guided tours of the facilities at WCMC-Q.


Hanan Lakkis  

Hanan Lakkis
Media Relations Manager

  Assist the Director of Government and Public Affairs with Media Relations, creates a media relations program across individual markets in the Middle East and other key locations as identified. Works with the Public Affairs Director to support communication to Arabic media. Coordinates media enquiries and requests from English and Arabic language media. In charge of Arabic copy writing, translation and proofreading. Translates text from English into Arabic across all communication collaterals including publications, newsletter and the WCMC-Q web site.

  Under the direction of Government and Public Affairs, in charge of production of all collateral materials for WCMC-Q in Arabic and English ranging from print materials to merchandise items. Plans, designs and organizes delivery and coordinates implementation with Director of PA. In charge of major conferences and exhibitions.

  Assists the Director of Government and Public Affairs develop and prepare publications, presentations, news releases and other materials to communicate WCMC-Q’s three-fold mission of excellence in education, research and clinical care. Major focus is the Qatar Chronicle, the Medical College’s magazine about the work and achievements of its faculty, staff, and students, and the Annual Report, which details the accomplishments and activities of the medical school and its partners.

Senior Editorial Specialist

  As a member of the writing team, works with clinical and research faculty to develop stories for the press and for inclusion in all WCMC-Q publications, in print, electronic and broadcast formats. Researches and develops medical articles and features for use in regional media. Supports the team with the writing of materials required for events at WCMC-Q. Coordinates with the photographer for related images, and with the Arabic writer for translation of English text.

John Samples
Graphic Designer/Photographer

Responsible for producing design solutions to communicate the work of WCMC-Q with high visual impact. Produces a variety of photographic images capturing the activities of the college for use in a range of publications and with news releases. Creates and maintains a digital image archive of WCMC-Q programs and events. Works as part of the WCMC-Q Public Affairs team and coordinates with external support as needed. Applies a broad range of design, multimedia and photographic and imaging technologies, particularly digital photography and graphics.

Administrative Assistant to the Director of Government and Public Affairs

  Provides administrative support to the Director of Government and Public Affairs to ensure effective and efficient operation of the division. Manages the daily flow of incoming communications, and prepares or drafts outgoing correspondence. Maintains the calendar of the Government and Public Affairs Director, and organizes meetings and seminars. Coordinates certain financial transactions, including travel arrangements for the Director and visitors.

Noura Al-Okkah
Public Affairs Staff Secretary

Provides administrative support to the Director of Government and Public Affairs, and coordinates with other Public Affairs staff on all projects undertaken by the Department to deliver administrative assistance as required. Designs and prints public affairs materials, and supervises receptionist. Manages all financial transactions, and coordinates documentation with Director.
