Dr. Salaha Khan is a registered Clinical and Counseling Psychologist, licensed in the province of Ontario, Canada. She earned her MA and PhD from a CPA accredited, Specialist Stream Program of Clinical Psychology at the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Khan is a certified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Trainer and she has been delivering MHFA trainings to college/university communities and government organizations in Canada since 2013. Dr. Khan has worked in highly diverse work settings including universities, colleges, high schools, industrial settings, community counseling services, private practice clinics and hospitals. Dr. Khan’s orientation to psychotherapy is primarily informed by the Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) approach. Her therapy style is strength focused and insight oriented where she engages clients in realizing their talents/strengths and helping them gain insight into seeking practical solutions to the difficulties that are hindering their growth. She considers empathy to be an essential and integral component of her therapy work and an active agent in the change process. Dr. Khan has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and with varied presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, grief/loss issues, self-esteem issues, sexual identity issues, bicultural stress, relationship problems, academic issues, career problems, acculturation and resettlement difficulties.

Dr. Khan has published empirical research in peer-reviewed journals, presented papers and research findings on various conferences and served as plenary speaker on APA hosted conferences. During her career as a psychologist she also served as mental health consultant and principal investigator of mental health strategy for Centennial College, Toronto in collaboration with the Office of Vice President, Student and Community Engagement. She has been heading the Counseling and Psychological Services Office (CaPS-Q) of Carnegie Mellon University Qatar since August 2016.
