Ms. Jumana Al-Abdi has been working in Qatar for over 12 years, where she established the first counseling center at Carnegie Mellon University Qatar in 2005 and made a shift in 2016 to focus on a holistic level of care of wellness through program delivery and counseling services at VCUarts Qatar. She holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Alberta, an undergraduate degree of Social Work Honors from Carleton University, and earned her Master of Science degree in Psychology with a specialization in Counseling Psychology from Capella University in 2010. She has over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concern. Her approach is an integrative method where she combines different aspects of therapy styles as no single method can treat every client in every situation. She has training in integrative, cognitive-behavioral, and humanist therapy, with an interest in crisis intervention, trauma, childhood attachment and holistic wellness.
