Medical Student
Class of 2019
Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar
Doha, Qatar

I am Priya Pillai, a second-year medical student at WCM-Q and an active member of the Medical Students Executive Council for the past four years. I am an Indian by nationality and did most of my schooling in Oman and USA.

I have served in many leadership roles on campus from being a class representative in the Medical Education Curriculum Committee (MSEC) for the past year to being the current MSEC liaison for Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. I am also the current National Officer of the Standing Committee on Professional Exchange in Qatar Medical Students Association (QMSA), which is a part of the International Federation of Medical Students. My colleagues founded QMSA, in order to further connect us with medical students from across the world with an aim of exploring different healthcare systems and cultures. Besides my interest in healthcare, I am an active badminton player and have a keen interest in fitness and yoga.

As an international student, I completely understand the need for a symposium on student wellness, especially for students studying in Education City, who are often unable to tend to their own health or mental well-being due to the heavy workload and stress of university education. I hope this symposium will be able to offer some effective guidelines in instilling a healthy lifestyle amongst members of our student community.
