Sathyanarayanan Doraiswamy, MBBS, MD, DHealth, Dip IBLM
Dr. Sathya Doraiswamy is Assistant Director of the Institute for Population Health (IPH) at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. Until recently he was the Chief of Health of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Bangladesh. Dr. Doraiswamy has more than 20 years of experience as a public health professional working in Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Europe within governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the United Nations. He has considerable experience of teaching and public health research, as well as expertise in supporting humanitarian public health responses for populations affected by conflict. His special interests include refugee health, sexual and reproductive health, and strengthening health systems, particularly in fragile settings. Dr. Doraiswamy’s work has been published in peer reviewed journals and presented at several global conferences. He participates in teaching, research, community awareness programs and other population health activities advanced by the IPH.
Dr. Sathya Doraiswamy is a medical doctor, with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Community Medicine degrees from Chennai, India and a professional doctorate from the University of Bath, United Kingdom. He is board certified in public health and also a certified lifestyle medicine physician. He has also received additional diplomas in applied population research, applied statistics and human resource management.
