Dr Bernd Reichert joined Sidra Medicine in 2015 as Attending Physician.  Initially he provided care at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Hamad Women’s Hospital, while setting up Sidra’s own Neonatal ICU.  Apart from his clinical duties he also serves as the program director of the Sidra / WWRC Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Program.

Originally from Germany, Bernd obtained his medical education at the Justus-Liebig University of Giessen, where he graduated magna cum laude.  He completed his clinical training in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine in the UK, where he was a Neonatologist at the University Hospital of North Tees and associate clinical lecturer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

His main interest is graduate and postgraduate medical education using simulation as a tool to increase efficacy of the process.  In the UK he led the introduction of simulation training into the curriculum of trainees in the Northern region and local and regional teaching programmes as part of his role as training programme director as well as member of the ‘North East Simulation Interest Group’.  He has also served as an organizing member of the UK Northern Neonatal Network.
