Tom Doyle is Director of the Environmental Health, Safety & Security Division (EHSS) at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q).Tom has led, developed, and promoted the comprehensive EHSS programs at WCM-Q since its inception in 2004.Tom is results oriented EHS professional with over 30 years of management and technical experience for major academic research institutions.He has extensive experience in development, implementation and continual improvement of comprehensive EHSS programs including laboratory safety, hazardous materials & waste management, pollution prevention, industrial hygiene, training, and emergency planning and response.He serves as the Biological Safety Officer, Chemical Hygiene Officer, Radiation Protection Officer, and Fire and Life Safety Officer for the College.Tom has been a speaker at several international safety and health conferences.
Prior to his work in Qatar, Tom was Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas (2002-2004).He was Supervisor of EH&S at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas (1988-2002).Tom started his career in the EH&S profession at Northwestern University in Chicago where he served as Laboratory Safety Specialist and EH&S Technician (1986-1988).
Mr. Doyle holds a BSc. in Occupational Safety & Health from the University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa and a MBA from LeTourneau University, Longview, Texas.Tom’s professional certifications include Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (USA), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) with the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (USA), and Registered Biosafety Professional with the American Biological Safety Association International (ABSA).Tom’s professional affiliations include Professional Member with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), member of the Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) and member of the American Biological Safety Association International.
