Arthur John Roberts, BSc (Hons) MBBS MRCGP DAvMed FFOM FRAeS
Dr John Roberts is the Qatar Airways Group Medical Director and has been in post for just over two years.
He graduated from St Thomas’s Hospital in the UK in 1985 and entered the Royal Air Force as a Medical Officer. He qualified as a Family Medicine Specialist and went on to train in Aviation Medicine. He left the Air Force after 18 years having been lucky to have spent many hours flying in the back of fighter jet aircraft.
In September 2000 Dr Roberts left the military and joined NATS the UKs leading Air Traffic Control Service provider, where he trained in Occupational Medicine. He completed his training and passed the Membership of the UKs Faculty of Occupational Medicine examination in 2006. He was appointed as NATS Chief Medical Officer later that year went on to become the Head of two Aero Medical Centres in the UK.
Dr Roberts has always had an interest in medical education and was a clinical and educational supervisor in Occupational Medicine at NATS and later was made the Training Program Director for the London School of Occupational Medicine.
Dr Roberts came to Qatar to set up the expanded Medical Services for the Qatar Airways Group, and is steadily increasing the services the department is offering to the Company. Last year Dr Roberts was appointed as a Fellow of the Faculty of Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
