Dr. Katherine Miles is a British medical doctor and lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, Hashemite University in Jordan and former Director of the Clinical Skills Education and Testing Center at the Hashemite University. She has over ten years' experience of living and working in the Middle East, designing, developing and teaching communication skills curricula at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a specialist in Medical Education, she has utilized her knowledge and skills to implement new teaching strategies and deliver faculty development training for best practice in medical education. Katherine is passionate about the need for effective communication in medical consultations between healthcare providers, patients and relatives. Therefore, she is committed to equipping the next generation of doctors with good communication skills and to networking with other medical educators as a member of EACH. Her research interests include the influence of culture on clinical communication, perspectives of breaking bad news in the Middle East and medical student learning strategies.
