Albert Lowenfels, MD
For several decades, Dr. Lowenfels has been associated with New York Medical College as Emeritus Professor of Surgery and also as Professor of Community and Preventive Medicine. In addition he has served as Visiting Fellow at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, a branch of the WHO; Visiting Professor Greifswald University, Greifswald, Germany; Consultant to the Food and Drug Administration; Consultant to the International Prevention Research Institute (IPRI); Senior Investigator, European Institute of Oncology; and External Advisor, NIH-funded grant for sequencing genes related to pancreatic cancer.
Dr. Lowenfels’s research interests as reflected in over 200 publications focus on lifestyle diseases, the relation between lifestyle factors and malignant disease, alcohol-related diseases, cystic fibrosis, digestive tract cancer with special emphasis on pancreatic cancer.
