Dr. Rakab joined Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q) in January 2016 as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Assistant Dean for Clinical Learning. He is credentialed at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) as internal medicine consultant and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Prior to joining WCM-Q, Dr. Rakab served as Chairman of Academic Affairs, Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), and Designated Institutional Official (DIO) at Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi from 2010-2014. He is a recipient of multiple awards, including the Excellence in Teaching Award (2010) and Excellence in Leadership Award (2011). He restructured residency-training programs in Abu Dhabi to meet ACGME-I program accreditation and successfully spearheaded Mafraq Hospital ACGME-I institutional accreditation in September 2012.

His current research interests include curriculum development, cultural competence, and professionalism.
