The Subinternship in Medicine prepares the student with the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to succeed as a physician, both in residency and throughout his or her career. The scientific and humanistic aspects of medicine are learned though providing direct patient care under the supervision of a staff of teaching attendings and selected senior residents. Subinterns function as interns, taking call and admitting alternate patients, and caring for those patients as their own.
The function will be daily rounds with the consultants and specialist, presentation and attendance in the morning reports and 11-12 Monday and Wednesday departmental activities.
