Prerequisite: D grade or better in BIOG 1102 (although C grade or better is strongly recommended) or permission of instructor of record.

This course focuses on the fundamental principles of Mendelian inheritance, applied to the genetic of human diseases. The topics covered include patterns of inheritance for Mendelian human traits, mapping and identification of gene variants and mutations in humans. Elements of cancer genetics, as well as some general principles of genetic testing and counseling are discussed.
