Description

This elective was expressly designed for the senior medical student interested in a career in Ob/Gyn. They will participate with Ob/Gyn faculty and residents on a one-on-one basis, in all clinical rounds, educational conferences, including extensive time in the operating room. This is a hands on sub-internship with a vast array of gynecological surgical exposure. The student will participate in the care of the gyn/onc. patients, in-patients and outpatients sitting, working directly with the consultants, specialists and the residents of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Hamad Women’s Hospital. Out-patient care is stressed. However, the student will attend some of the other hospital clinical activities e.g OR, …, and participate in Oncology and colposcopy clinics. At the completion of the elective, the student should have an understanding of the approach to diagnosis (including special laboratory and radiology), decision-making and managements of gynaecological oncology cases.
