Kevin Smith, PhD

Dr. Kevin Smith is an Associate Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) with the shared responsibility for teaching the Organic Chemistry lectures and labs. He was appointed as Assistant Dean, Pre-medical Education in 2009. With a Ph.D. from Dalhousie University, Halifax, CANADA, Dr. Smith was an Assistant Professor at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, before joining WCMC-Q in 2003.

Dr. Smith's areas of research interests are in natural product structural elucidation and investigation of biosynthetic pathways. He has particular interest in compounds having biological activity related to medicinal and agricultural applications, especially those produced as a result of interspecies interactions (e.g. pathogenic disease response).
