Dr. Safadi, who received his M.Phil.-Ph.D. from the University of Southampton, was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and has been a faculty member at Temple University School of Medicine in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology since 1998 and also as a faculty member in the school's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sport Medicine since 2005. Dr. Safadi has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level in cell and molecular biology. At Temple he has been Director of the Molecular Histology Core Facility since 1998 and Vice Chairperson for Research for the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology since 2005. Also at Temple he has served both at various times on a number of committees and boards at the University, Medical School and Departmental level.
Dr. Safadi's current research interests focus on understanding the regulatory mechanisms of bone cell development, differentiation and function in normal and diseased bone and cartilage (Osteoporosis and Arthritis).
