PROFILE

Dr. Nasrin Mesaeli joined Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and is actively involved in teaching and research. Dr. Mesaeli received a B.S. and M.Sc. from Kuwait University in Kuwait and her Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. Dr. Mesaeli was a post-doctoral fellow and a Research Associate in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta.

She came to WCMC-Q in 2010 from the University of Manitoba where she served as Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She served on over twenty committees, including the Graduate Studies Faculty Council for four years and as a member of the organizing committee for an exchange program (graduate student and faculty) with Jordan University of Science and Technology. She supervised 3 PhD Students and 4 M.Sc Students.

Dr. Mesaeli's research interest is to examine role of endoplasmic reticulum in disease development. Dr. Mesaeli's lab uses Molecular and Cellular Biology techniques in addition to generation of transgenic mouse models to examine mechanism of regulation of vascular wall remodeling in disease, lung adenocarcinoma and diabetes.
