Dr. Mesaeli received a B.S. and M.Sc. from Kuwait University in Kuwait and her Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg. Dr. Mesaeli was a post-doctoral fellow and a Research Associate in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, University of Alberta.
Dr. Mesaeli joined WCMC-Q from the University of Manitoba where she was Associate Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Manitoba. She was also Principal Investigator at St. Boniface General Hospital Research Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She served on over twenty committees, including the Graduate Studies Faculty Council for four years and as a member of the organizing committee for an exchange program (graduate student and faculty) with Jordan University of Science and Technology. She supervised 3 PhD Students and 4 M.Sc Students.
Dr. Mesaeli's research interest is to examine role of endoplasmic reticulum stress in the development of different disease including lung cancer cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Dr. Mesaeli's lab uses Molecular and Cellular Biology techniques in addition to generation of transgenic mouse models in their studies.
